Dr. James M. Kim

James M. Kim M.D., Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology 

James M. Kim, M.D. attended medical school at the University of Southern California, completed his internship in internal medicine at the UCLA- VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, and completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Southern California-Doheny Eye Institute in 2004.  He has been in practice since 2004. Dr. Kim is our cataract surgeon; he specializes in no-stitch, small incisional cataract surgery. Read the detailed cataract surgery information under the "Services" tab, which explains the different intraocular lens choices, including presbyopia- and astigmatism-correcting intraocular lenses, which may lessen the need for wearing glasses following cataract surgery. Dr. Kim is accepting new patients!


Dr. Steven S. Ma

Steven S. Ma, M.D. 

Steven S. Ma graduated from medical school at the University of Toronto in 1990 and completed his residency at University of British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C.  He has been in practice since 1991, previously in California and currently in Richmond, B.C. as well as here at BBO. Dr. Ma treats a wide range of ophthalmic conditions, including glaucoma, dry eyes, macular degeneration, and Botox injections. Dr. Ma is accepting new patients!


Dr. Emmeline C. Peng

Emmeline Sheu O.D., Doctor of Optometry 

Emmeline Sheu attended University of Houston College of Optometry and earned her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Houston in 2009. She specializes in contact lens fittings and comprehensive eye exams. She has been in practice since 2010.  Pictured with her is puppy Bella.

Dr. Timothy Ekhlassi

Timothy Ekhlassi, M.D.

Dr. Timothy Ekhlassi is a board-certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in oculoplastics surgery.  He graduated from medical school at the University of Miami and completed his residency in ophthalmology at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County.  He completed sub-specialty training in an ASOPRS-accredited oculoplastics fellowship program in Detroit, Michigan.  Dr. Ekhlassi is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the Royal Canadian College of Surgeons.  He is interested in a broad range of ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery, including upper and lower blepharoplasty (eyelid "lift"), brow lifts, Botox injections and other cosmetic surgery.  He is now accepting new patients!
