Presbyopic Intraocular Lenses: Alcon ReSTOR

Standard monofocal lens implants have a single point of focus. When a standard lens is implanted, the patient usually chooses before surgery where to have their eye focused after surgery. Most patients choose distance vision, and they wear reading glasses after surgery. Some patients choose to be nearsighted; they wear distance glasses after surgery.

The Alcon ReSTOR multifocal lens has two points of focus, one for seeing in the distance and the other for seeing up close. While no guarantee can be made as to the final result, if a multifocal lens is implanted, there is a much better chance that you will be able to see in the distance and at near without glasses after surgery.
